Today, on the way back to Lima, we went into the restaurant at an elevation of 4125m again in order to have late breakfast. Whilst shopping there after breakfast, we could occasionally see people being on their way to the fiesta!
My eyes met theirs and they made a very very big bow from the waist to me. I raised my camera to ask if it was OK to take a photograph of them. Their answer was yes, so I flied out and took this picture. Thank you!
Cathuamayo is the town where the road from Paucartambo crosses with the major road to Huanuco. This is also a very small town, however, you can see the sign of “Internet” here as well.
When we passed this town yesterday, there was a festival. Today people are still playing music and dancing. The Peruvian people really seem to love festivals.

Surrounded by the mountains, here is a lake. Several different species of waterfowls and animals there. Photographed with Saul the guide and Cesar the driver.
This is the plant which grows beside the lake. It is quite hard when you touch it. I presumed that it would be for surviving in this particular severe climate at the elevation of about 4300m.
And on the following day. This is the day to go back from Paucartambo to Lima all way through. The original plan was that Cesar would drive us to La Oroya and then somebody else would drive back to Lima. However, Cesar decided to drive us through to Lima, which was great, as he was a nice company and he drives quite carefully.
We didn’t eat breakfast in Paucartambo and departed.

A bird of prey we saw on the way back. The shutter speed was excellent however, it was a bit out of focus unfortunately.
That night.
First of all, we went to an Internet shop (not cafe) and checked mails. I was surprised to see lots of Internet shops in Tarma, and again in San Ramón. But I was even more surprised to see some Internet shops here in Paucartambo as this is a tiny tiny village.
At night in Peru, every town and village seems to have a big crowd of people outside. It looks like all population come out of houses for fiesta. There are stalls which sell food here and there. Looking at the food and thinking “It looks nice”, we went to a restaurant.
The first restaurant we went into hadn’t prepared for food yet.
There was a restaurant with a signboard of octopus and fish in such a remote mountain village. Wondering if it is safe to eat, we went into the restaurant. They didn’t have anything including fish.
After all, we went into the same restaurant as we had lunch on the day. This time they had proper menu. We had chickin which was very tasty. Satisfied, we went back to the hotel and slept in a sleeping bag.
