how they grow

Some orchids grow like these on the cliff.

 Where we were.

Phragmipedium coudatum grows here.  It was a bit too late for flowers, which was a shame.

Epi.vespa?

Prostechea sp. (vespa?)

This is the orchid which was classified as Encyclia until quite recently and is now Protechea.  Probably this has been reclassified since, like Encyclia cochleata which is now Anacheilium cochleatum.

It is difficult for me to remember Latin names.  Having several names and/or being reclassified a few times make this even worse.

Ida sp.

Gigantic Ida sp.  Unfortunately there were no flowers there.  If there have been flowers, it would have been marvellous.
